Canine Lungworm

For a few years now, vets in the south of the UK have been warned of an expected increase in the incidence of lungworm in dogs. Until recently this had been an uncommon, though very serious, disease around Watford. Now this sometimes fatal disease appears to be occurring more frequently in this area, and we have seen a number of cases in the recent past. We now strongly recommend the use of a parasite treatment called Advocate, which is applied monthly to the skin of the neck to prevent infection, and is also used to prevent most other internal worms, fleas and several other common parasites in a simple one step procedure. In addition we suggest that you don't allow your dogs to eat slugs or snails, which are the carriers of the disease, although this isn't easy especially in inquisitive pups.
